A Christian healing ministry has many benefits and blessings. Because Pedro is not working as a medical practitioner, he is free from the worry about spending "too much time" with a patient. He can afford the time to talk, not only about the physical problem, but also the emotional and spiritual needs of his patients as well.
For we are not just physical beings. Our emotions can affect our health, as well as the condition of our souls.
Isaiah 53:5 says,
But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
(New Living Translation NLT)
Because this is a Christian healing ministry, all aspects of the patient are addressed. It is not unusual for someone who needs a consult to bring in all their tests and x-rays and sit with Pedro for two or three hours, reviewing and letting Pedro "put it all together."
Pedro has written a book about Christians and depression from the medical and the Biblical point of view. Read about it here.
Regency Medical Missions could not function as a ministry without the amazing group of people who donate money (some very sacrificially) each month. We were recently told that surely Pedro must have a retirement income and therefore didn't need any donations.
In reality, Pedro's free doctor ministry and Regency cannot exist without people who share our vision and see the need to help those who for whatever reason cannot get the medical care they need.
We ask only that God prompt those whom He has called to work with us in this ministry to respond. God is faithful. Since its inception in 2005, Regency Medical Missions has had only two months where it could not pay Pedro a salary or pay other bills. We praise our Lord for His faithfulness.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields."
Matthew 9:36-39 New Living Translation (NLT)
I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.
Psalm 138:2b New Living Translation (NLT)
